Skyway maintenance work ongoing
In line with its commitment to provide quality service to its motoring patrons, the Skyway operator, Skyway O&M Corporation (SOMCO), consistently maintains its tollway facilities. Currently, SOMCO’s repair and maintenance team is applying new road lane markings on portions of the Skyway’s elevated and at-grade sections to restore the solid and broken lines on the pavement after the completion of road reconditioning and asphalt overlay works it undertook in November and December last year. SOMCO is also repairing the toll lane chevrons at the toll plazas and is repairing or replacing damaged or worn-out fences and guardrails.
In compliance with its “Safety First” policy, SOMCO undertakes all its maintenance and repair works every night at 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following day when the Skyway System traffic is considerably light.
Meanwhile, SOMCO and the Skyway developer, Citra Metro Manila Tollways Corporation (CMMTC), are upbeat on the progress of Skyway Stage 2 from Sucat to Alabang, after the long pierheads that would support the 12-lane Main Toll Plaza have been concreted; and the steel formworks, which supported these pierheads, have already been removed. Because of this, the original five-meter vertical clearance at the Sucat-Alabang at-grade section, which was temporarily lowered to 4.27 meters, has been restored. SOMCO now allows trailer vans with height not exceeding five meters to pass the said tollway section again.
The safety and convenience of the Skyway motorists are SOMCO’s paramount concern. Motorists can call the Skyway hotline 776-7777 for any emergency or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. CMMTC, on the other hand, is rushing the completion of the Skyway extension to Alabang before May 2011, to allow the Skyway motorists to enjoy a 12-minute drive from Alabang to Makati.
