Skyway at-grade drainage work continues between Sucat SB Exit and Sucat SB Entry for 3 weeks
Skyway operator, Skyway O&M Corporation (SOMCO), reopened yesterday (Feb. 1), the at-grade section’s southbound (SB) lane between Sucat and Alabang from Pier 90 and Pier 111 after Skyway contractor, D.M. Consunji, Inc. (DMCI) finished its drainage work in said area. Immediately thereafter, the drainage work needed between Pier 66 near the at-grade Sucat SB Exit and Pier 90 near the Sucat SB Entry, commenced with DMCI excavating portion of the innermost lane beside each pier for the installation of the pre-fabricated box culverts.
SOMCO special operations and external affairs head, Ed Nepomuceno, said that because of this activity, the southbound at-grade section’s leftmost lane cannot be used by motorists until the third week of Febrayry 2011. Until then, only the middle and rightmost lanes, each 3.4 meters wide, can be used. SOMCO again reminds motorists to drive carefully and stay alert while passing the drainage work area and to keep their vehicles in good running condition for their own safety and that of other motorists. In case of traffic slowdown, motorists may exit at Sucat SB Exit and re-enter the tollway at Sucat SB Entry. They may also plan their trips or use alternate routes during peak traffic hours.
Team Skyway once again apologizes to Skyway motorists for any inconvenience this activity may cause. The 3-week lane closure has to be done to speed up the installation of the Skyway drainage system, which serves as the flood control mechanism of the Skyway Stage 2 Project..
