Stop-and-Go traffic along WSR in Sucat for Skyway construction
Skyway O&M Corporation (SOMCO), the traffic manager for the Skyway Stage 2 project, has closed one lane of the West Service Road (WSR) 400 meters before the Skyway Sucat Southbound Exit, at a distance of about 150 meters, where a "Stop-and-Go" traffic scheme is now being implemented and, which may last for about a month. This is to allow the Stage 2 project contractor, D.M. Consunji, Inc. (DMCI), to undertake bored pile (drilling) and installation of pile caps activities for the Skyway Sucat ramp leading to Dr. A Santos Ave. in Sucat.
The closure of 1 lane at the said WSR will also allow Meralco to undertake excavation and pipe-laying activities in the same area in connection with the relocation of its electrical cables from overhead to underground. The overhead cables need to be relocated as these could be damaged or impaired as the work on the Skyway's road superstructure progresses.
SOMCO has deployed additional traffic personnel in the area to manage traffic and guide motorists.
Meanwhile, SOMCO reiterates its advisory that all the lanes of the Skyway South Station Exit Plaza will be closed starting at 10:00 pm, tomorrow (March 3) to allow DMCI to widen the road on both sides of the plaza and continue its construction activities for the Skyway's Alabang on/off ramps. Motorists going to the business and commercial centers and residential areas of Alabang and Las Piñas are advised to exit at the Filinvest toll plaza or the Alabang toll plaza. In anticipation of an increase in the volume of vehicles in these plazas, ambulant tellers and additional traffic enforcers will be deployed to serve and assist motorists.
SOMCO again enjoins motorists to understand and support the traffic adjustments it is making along the West Service Road and at the South Station Exit Plaza to allow DMCI to speed up its work and to finish Skyway Stage 2 project, hopefully, ahead of the May 2011 target schedule.
