FAQ

How do I get an E-PASS tag?
First, you need to apply for the E-PASS service, (An application is available at any of the 16 participating Shell stations or at the Head Office in Bicutan). Present to the Shell E-PASS representative the accomplished application form, in exchange, you will get an E-PASS kit that contains an electronic device called “tag”.

How does E-PASS work?
Mount the E-PASS tag on the surface of the windshield (please see photo) behind your vehicles rear view mirror. Your tag will be activated within 48 hours after receiving it. Upon entry in the designated lanes at E-PASS ready toll plazas, your tag will be electronically read by our special reading device. It determines and keeps a record of your point of entry. Upon exit, it will again be read to determine the toll fee to be paid. If you have enough pre-paid toll fees in your E-PASS account, you will be given a green light and our special barrier will allow you to pass.
With E-PASS dedicated lanes, be in and out of major toll plazas in a breeze!

How much will it cost to avail of the E-PASS?
Tags can be bought at only P 2,700 (VAT INCLUSIVE) which includes P 400 worth of pre-paid toll fees.
We do suggest that you use only half of the P 400 pre-paid toll fees so that you don’t have to worry about getting a yellow light reminder should your balance reach P 350.

What do I do when my pre-paid account reaches the low level?
By low level, we mean that your pre-paid account has reached a balance of P 350. When your account reaches this level, the yellow light at the toll plazas will light, indicating the need to update your account. There are various ways to update your account within 24 hours:

What if I don’t get a green light?
No problem, if you get a Yellow Light at the entry point, this is just a friendly reminder that your balance of the pre-paid toll fees has reached P 350 and that you should be replenishing your account as soon as possible.
If you get a Red Light at the entry point, it means your account balance is below P 100 maintaining balance. You must stop and ask the toll teller for a magnetic card, you will have to exit at a cash lane and pay cash.

Do I get a monthly statement on my toll usage?
You may request monthly statements of your E-PASS account via fax or e-mail. Just dial 776-7057 and an automated voice response will prompt you on how this can be arranged. Your latest monthly statement with details on the date, time, entry and exit points and the corresponding toll fees paid can be faxed or e-mailed to you.

What else do I need to know?
Our policy is “one tag-one vehicle”. When you apply for a tag, you will have to indicate the one vehicle in which you will place it. You are not allowed switch the E-PASS tag to any other vehicle, even if you own the other vehicle.
In general, all types of car tinting can make use of the E-PASS tag. Although certain imported cars which make use of metallic-based tints encounter problems in the reading of their tags.
